This is Scotty Love Payne. Because of our proximity to the Tournament Player's Championship course at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, he is named after two golfers, Davis Love III (who won in 1992 and 2003) and the late Payne Stewart. (Adam Scott won in 2004, but Scott entered our lives earlier, so he was never a reason for his first name.) Scott has always been a special cat and he met my daughter when he was brought in to be euthanized. (My daughter is a vet technician and ALWAYS brings her rescue work home with her!) We speak a special language around him that is a cross between Sylvester the Cat and Peter Lorre. To speak correctly, you have to clinch your teeth, slobber a little, speak really slow, and keep your tongue at the bottom of your mouth. (Perhaps we have one foot in the Real World, and another in Fantasy Land. Maybe we have too much time on our hands!) If Scott is a sum of all his parts, then he is still not worth much as many of his pieces don't quite work! Today, one of the parts could no longer be ignored and he had to have his infectious left eye removed. He hadn't been able to see out of it for over a year! We have been cheering him up by singing religious hymns, "Mine Eye Have Seen the Glory of the Coming of the Lord," Eagle's favorites, "You Can't Hide Your Lying Eye," 1930 era show tunes, "Smoke Gets in Your Eye," and even a country song, "Don't it Make My Brown Eye Blue." When he heals up he will be pursuing a new career as you guessed it, a Private Eye!

I love it! The songs are priceless! Did not know there were so many "eye" songs out there...
ReplyDeleteWhat was priceless was my daughter's eyes and their constant state of rolling as we were driving Scott home and I kept breaking out in song - She just kept shaking her head and saying something about her mother not being right????
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny! I loved reading this and I can tell that you are a very fun family to hang with!
ReplyDeleteHey Cindy...I love looking at your pictures!...You look like you are having fun living your life!...Have I got the match for Scotty....My cat Daisy looks like his sister....She's a one person cat BUT maybe he can change her tempermental ways....Looking forward to following your posts!
ReplyDeleteYou know what? I honestly have had a lot of fun living my life...There's been some blood- sweat, and tears, lots of it...let's just say I've built LOTS of character! Scott is a very special cat and before his surgery, I bought him a kitty pirate ship at Publix that was on clearance. (Sadly, it didn't come with a patch! ha ha)...maybe I'll see a photo of Daisy but until then, I am VERY HAPPY to see your breathtaking backdrop in Spain!
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious, and you sound as mental as I am with my dog! I say that with love! Pets are unbelievable in their natural ability to bring out the BEST in us ... who else can you be that completely corny with, and they still love and accept you for who you are? Scotty Love Payne sounds like a fighter! Good for him!
ReplyDeleteMom.. Just don't sing any more... Im begging you..
